Dancing Raindrop Art Installation in Singapore’s Changi Airport

Now, this is an airport I could stand spending a layover in. German designers ART+COM installed over a thousand rising and falling metal raindrops in Singapore’s Changi Airport. The installation, named Kinetic Rain, was commissioned as a calming centrepiece for the airport’s departure hall. Suspended by steel wires, the raindrops are computer-controlled to move up and down in choreographed patterns. The 1,216 copper-covered droplets span 75 square meters and are controlled by a motor hidden in the ceiling. It’s a good thing this amazing installation runs on 15-minute intervals because some spectators might forget that they have flight to catch! Watch the video below to see the installation in action.
