CONFIGURE COLLECTION: A 2016 Shaw Contract NeoCon Launch

This installation features Contact and Color Shift, two of the hexagonal styles in the Configure collection.

Configured to interact. Hexagonal format and Asymmetric shapes combine at random, providing connectivity to build scale and enhance user experience. Designed to promote impromptu interaction, Configure assists with way finding and provides alluring, visual interest. Deconstructed, rhythmic patterns and bold color encourage a more imaginative, playful approach with installation.
Building on the success of our 2013 launch of the Hexagon collection, it was appropriate timing to add to the portfolio of existing styles. We selected the current style Plane as a base for the Configure collection, and focused on complementing the best-selling colors with 14 new additions to the palette. These include: six cool greys, one yellow, three teals, one coral, and three shades of magenta.
Four styles comprise the collection, all of which are 26oz multi-level pattern cut/loop construction and made with EcoSolution Q nylon on EcoWorx backing:
Base: features a 9-color, neutral palette of shifting shapes that are both graphic and subtle
Contact: is a neutral style with a vibrant color edge. It can be used as a transition piece or for minimal color accents. Available in 6 colors.
Color Shift: available in 5 saturated colors for moments of impact. This style works in connection with contact.
Plane– the foundation of the collection. Plane is one of the original Hexagon collection styles, updated with 14 new color options.
When asked to share a bit of the inspiration and development for this collection, VP of Design Reesie Duncan said, “When we developed Hexagon in 2013, workplace design was shifting to the open model – with emphasis on social connections and the many zones of work that takes place within a space. That collection provides the perfect solution for adding definition in an organic way- as well as ways to incorporate scale and directional cues. Now, three years later, the concept of workplace continues to evolve. We see the blurring of boundaries and the concept of moveable paths and visual cues to create an intuitive experience. Deconstructing the hexagon is a sophisticated way to integrate these concepts on the floor. Configure is a connected system of shapes that can build a system of shifting color and pattern through a space.”
